Chinese New Year Holidays What Does It Mean To Me

Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had a strong influence on the new year celebrations of its geographic neighbours, as well as cultures with whom the Chinese have had extensive interaction. To me Chines new year is rhe time when the chinese go and visit their family ,friends and relatives .

A reunion dinner is held on New Year's Eve where members of the family, near and far away, get together for the celebration. The venue will usually be in or near the home of the most senior member of the family. The New Year's Eve dinner is very sumptuous and traditionally includes chicken and fish.

I am a non-chinese thus i do not kow much about chinese new year. But from the details which i know i heard that chinese new year lasts for 15 days. The first day of Chinese New Year is a time when families visit the oldest and most senior members of their extended family, usually their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents.The second day of the Chinese New Year is for married daughters to visit their birth parents.

The 3rd day onwards it is known to be inappropriate days to go visiting as childrens have schools and they will not be able to make it.The 15th day of the new year is marked to be the end of the long festival. On this day there will be be a reunion dinner ecspecially for the teochews it is very important

From my point of view i have stated clearly what i know about chinese new year and what does it mean to me or signifies to me.The main important thing is that everyone remains happy and enjoy themselves and have a peaceful and a joyous memorable new year.
