My June Holidays

The june school holidays had just begun .Everybody were very excited and looking forward to go out with their friends and families.Well as for me,i had my NCC specialist course which was from the 2nd to the 5th of june to attend to followed by my United states trip in conjunction to NCC from the 5th june to the 19th june. I had a very tight schedule whereby i really had to prioratise my time well to complete my school assignments.

Well ever since the school holidays started, i began to work on my school assignments until the spec course. Then once i went for my specialist course on 2nd june, it was a very exhausting and brain draining time for me.we had to go for lecture every single day .And sitting in the lecture theaters made us all fall asleep .But if we caught dozing off,we would be reprimanded and seriously punished. Then as the days went by, we had our drills, general specialist knowledge, individual field craft ,marksmanship fundamentals, stripping and assembling of rifles tested .These were the tests conducted to test of our knowledge and a opportunity to prove the we are capable of being a leader.

Everybody had to complete the whole course until the 5th june unless a valid reason as for me as i had the international cadet exchange programme to United States i left on the 3rd of june at 11pm.
the following the day i completed packing my bag and spent time with my family and before i knew it ,i was flying in the plane to Texas.I was really looking forward to the trip .Once we reached Texas , colonel Dennis who is the in charge and founder of lone star summer leadership school picked us all up and brought us to Randolph air base to stay in.then we stayed there for two days and he brought us around the city of Texas and showed us around.Texas was very hot , humid and dry.But it was a beautiful city and a very nice place.there we a lot of sightseeing and tourist attractions.

After the 2 days stay in Randolph air base, i had to move in to our lone star summer leadership school where we had to stay for about one week. The lone star summer leadership school is where our leadership course is being held. Our main aim in this course is to learn their drills and widen our knowledge of junior air force cadets. From the day i booked into the camp till the very last day it was drills all the way.IN between from the 4th day onwards we went to do outdoor activities such as high rope element's courses , kayaking, water rafting, and many more.throughout the camp we had to bond in with the cadet from all over US and i managed to communicate well with them and asked them doubts .

All of the Singapore cadets who went there had a great fun time.then on the last we had a parade where the parents of the cadets were invited to come and see their child perform and take award or certificate. After we had the official US parade we had a mini Singapore parade comprising of just 12 cadets and we had to perform Singapore drills and show to the parents and all the other cadets.when we completed our performance we had lot of cheers and a lot of people supporting us.we were very honored and proud of ourselves. Then after our performance we were all given certificates by the colonel and that ended our day in the camp.

After that we returned to Singapore. Its was very sad that we had to live our friends behind but we have to adapt and get used to it.

Growth Camp 2008 Experience

Growth camp is a 3 day 2 night camp which is compulsory for all the students in my school Chong Boon .This camp is held every year in my school. The main aim of this camp is for us to grow not just physically but mentally. This camp also allows us to strengthen our bond with our classmates and our friends .Our teachers also take this opportunity to get to know us better.Every year the lower secondary students will stay in school while the upper secondary students will stay in an outdoor camp. This year our school decided to do it a bit differently by sending a group of 30 students out of Singapore for a different experience. The group of students went to gunung panti.I decided to stay locally as most of my friends were staying locally.

Our local camp was held at jalan baterah MOE campsite. I was really looking forward to the camp .i was very excited of all the activities that were in store for us.The time finally came .We had arrived at our campsite. The campsite was near a sea which led all the way to Malaysia and Indonesia .The campsite was located at the far most end of a road.Once we arrived at our campsite, we went into our bunks

What We Can Do To Change Climate Change

Global warming is the gradual increase in earths average ground and atmospheric temperature throughout the planet .The world is now suffering and being terribly affected my the rapid increase in the temperature .The consequence of the change in the temperature is very scary. The artic ice is melting very fast and this is and sign that shows that we need to rescue the polar bears and penguins. In addition to that ,the room temperature has now rised up to a temperature of 31degree celcius.

Lately have u been perspiring profusely? If u have, the only reason to it is climate change.Due to the rapid change in the weather recently , there has been a lot of people falling sick and having terrible fever, which reaches up to 40 degrees. The drastic change in the climate has now affected lot of people in the world and we are to be responsible for this change.due to our irresponsible action our mother earth is suffering greatly.Only we can do something about it.In the following paragraphs i will contributing ways we can help and contribute to climate change.

There a lot of ways we can contribute to make the world a better place for us to live in .Certain ways are very simple it depends on us weather we want to play our part a not.we can help save earth by saving energy.Instead of using air condition we can use fans. When electronic equipments not in use switch it off don't leave it on .Those who have motorbikes as a vehicle or cars they should install catalytic converters to prevent the harmful gas from damaging the ozone layer.

We should buy and fix energy saving bulbs instead of using all the fancy lights. We should buy CFC free refrigerators. When we buy air condition we should buy CFC free air conditions so we can help to save energy. Thus the message that i am trying to put across is all we have to do is just uphold a few simple steps and we can make the world a better place for living.

JOB CAREER

From young i wanted to be part of the army as i thought it was the most honourable repectful and a job that a man should be proud to be in.But evetually as i grew up ,i realised that it was really a very tough life ou there in the army it was not just about physical tarining it was more of mental torture.MY parents discouraged and disallowed me to join the army as they were afraid that i wont be able to take the strenous training.Being and young adult now,i guess i get to make a few decisions on my own now i guess. And my choice of career is events manager.

Why events manager? In the job which I have chosen, the responsibilities of an event manager is to first design the basic framework. After which he prepares the marketing plans, hunts for sponsors, works on the logistics, locates the site/destination, contacts vendors, hires performers, prints/mails invitation cards, and creates menus. Events Manager also looks after the stage/lights, books the artistes, arranges for transport for different people and on the D' Day co-ordinates, plans and finalizes every aspect of the event. Event managers usually start working months before the event. Sometimes, in order to make the work easier, large event management companies hire the services of smaller companies on a contract basis to make it a multidimensional event whereby different ideas can be thrown in and molded into a more explicit idea.

On top of the educational requirements, the events manger must be able to do Analytical/Critical thinking and problem solving Client/Customer service orientation.
Good negotiation skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Teamwork, facilitation and co-operation planning.Co-ordination and organization Good networking skills.

Speaking of future career prospects, as for me, the chances of me getting into this profession is relevantly high .This is because the basic qualifications for this job is not that difficult , since it has the same educational requirements as most courses in Polytechnics request. But it is a host of other qualities, which are essential for a person to be well-equipped in this field.

After deep thinking I realized that to achieve what I want I have to begin now. I have no time to waste or procrastinate any further. I have to put in consistent effort and reach my target. I have to do well in my O levels and proceed on to poly. The world is now full of challenges with different people with unique talents and I have to pocess an outstanding talent, to be recognized, to impress the people with my talents. I have been doing research on this job and finding out more from people about this course and I have to prepare myself to face the challenges and obstacles that are coming in my way.

Chinese New Year Holidays What Does It Mean To Me

Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had a strong influence on the new year celebrations of its geographic neighbours, as well as cultures with whom the Chinese have had extensive interaction. To me Chines new year is rhe time when the chinese go and visit their family ,friends and relatives .

A reunion dinner is held on New Year's Eve where members of the family, near and far away, get together for the celebration. The venue will usually be in or near the home of the most senior member of the family. The New Year's Eve dinner is very sumptuous and traditionally includes chicken and fish.

I am a non-chinese thus i do not kow much about chinese new year. But from the details which i know i heard that chinese new year lasts for 15 days. The first day of Chinese New Year is a time when families visit the oldest and most senior members of their extended family, usually their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents.The second day of the Chinese New Year is for married daughters to visit their birth parents.

The 3rd day onwards it is known to be inappropriate days to go visiting as childrens have schools and they will not be able to make it.The 15th day of the new year is marked to be the end of the long festival. On this day there will be be a reunion dinner ecspecially for the teochews it is very important

From my point of view i have stated clearly what i know about chinese new year and what does it mean to me or signifies to me.The main important thing is that everyone remains happy and enjoy themselves and have a peaceful and a joyous memorable new year.

Chong boon school Rules

Chong Boon secondary is my own school. The Rules in my school are just as normal as any other school .But there are a handful of ong the students in my school whom thinks that certain of the school rules should not be implemented. The rules are as follows:boys should have short and neat hair.No tatooes.

Quite a sum of the boys think that boys having short and neat hair in school is ridiculous. They think in such a manner because they think that having long hair does not play any part in their behaviour or neither does it affect their studies. They think as long their hair does not fall in front of their eyebrows and cover their eyes it should be allowed to have long hair as it is a trend now a days .

As for the case of tatooes the young generation nowadays think that it is common and it does no harm to them. They think its a form of art and the teachers and adults should learn to accept this instead of punishing them and suspending them. The students think tha tatooes does no harm to them or even affect their studies. The only reason for saying "NO "to tatooes is because of the schools reputation. But the school should learn to compromise with the students .The school should also be fair to the students .

Thus from my perspective ,i think that the school should allow the students to have tatooes and long hair provided theier hair does not crooss their eyebrows. As for tatooes ,the tatooes only can be put in places that it cannot be cited when wearig the school uniform or school pe t shirt.EG:back, chest, upper arm and so on and so forth. The school should also state strictly that having a tatoo is at their own rick but no tatooes realted to brotherhood of gangs. .Thus if the school disciplinary commitee could discuss this and come out with a fair solution i think the students will feel happier and look forward to school more.

Singapore Flyer Experience

Singapore Flyer. The moment i heard that the whole seondary three cohort in my school was going to the singapore flyer ,i was extremely elated .But due to acro-phobia i had,i was quite reluctant to go.but i summoned all m y courage and decided to go and grab this oppourtunity to get rid of my phobia.i was really looking forward to the ride .I was also relly looking forward to see an wonderful spectacular birds eye view of our wonderful city. The moment before we enter the flyer,i was really anxious and having sweaty palms.but i was prepared for the rid

As the flyer was moving up i stood rooted to my seat. All my friends were practically walking around .As the flyer moved higher and higher ,fear mounted my heart .I did not dare look down. The least i could risk was to peep over my book. What I saw made me forget to breathe. I was mesmerised by the spectacular view of the nation.I could not believe my eyes.once the flyer reached the maximum point,i was absolutely stunned by the wonderful and beautiful view.Famous, recognised and prominent places of singapore could be seen from where i was.EG:Merlion,Raffles place and many more.I could hear nothing but the cacophony of students chatter.

It was a wonderful thrilling experience i had.Its a unforgettable memorable experience.I felt very fearful initially as i boarded the flyer. But as the flyer moved higher ,i could not keep still i decided to stand up and look at the view. The view that i saw had made me inspired me to overcome my fear for heights.my expectations were not much as i had fear for heights. But it was definitely a worth while trip.

The most funniest incident that entertained us in my capsule was me myself.I was afraid of heights thus i refused to stand up.And all my friends were teasing and laughing away at me.But i was ignorant to their laughter.

From my point view I think it is a very worth it and enriching trip. This trip was in conjunction with my subjects. It benefitted me a lot.I learnt a lot from this trip.In a scale of 1 to 5 ranging from 1 poorest and 5 excellent.i would rate this trip a 5 and i would strongly encourage other students to enrol for this trip as it is very beneficial.
